Our 2023 grant application portal is currently full. We are in review of current applicants. 

Main Street Anniston (MSA) and the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) have partnered to establish the Downtown Anniston Multi-Purpose Reimbursement Grant program for (1) For-Profit Businesses, (2) Nonprofit Corporations, and (3) Private Citizens within the defined boundaries of the Downtown Anniston Historic District and Anniston’s West 15th Historic District. The reimbursement grant funds from this program are provided by the DDA, an incorporated entity that is separate from the City of Anniston’s Municipal Government. Maximum reimbursement request amount is $10,000 per applicant.

At this time, the Downtown Anniston Multi-Purpose Reimbursement Grant has a funding pool of $100,000. This program will remain available until the funding pool has been exhausted. To download a PDF of the guidelines for this grant, please click here

NOTE: All work/projects/plans seeking reimbursement, must abide by city codes and historic commission guidelines. All contractors MUST be licensed, and all projects MUST be properly permitted and planned. Application approvals are based upon a majority vote of the DDA Board members.

      *APPLYING FOR AN ALREADY COMPLETED PROJECT: To apply for reimbursement for a project that has already been completed in 2023, please submit the project’s paid invoices. An applicant must submit proof of payment (such as paid invoices) for the work completed or equipment purchased in order to receive reimbursement from this grant program once their project is complete. *APPLYING FOR A PROJECT THAT HAS NOT STARTED: As a part of the online reimbursement application below, an applicant may apply to this program, prior to work beginning on their project, by submitting contractor quotes and/or estimates. An applicant could then be approved for reimbursement prior to their project beginning. However, once the project is complete, in order for funding to be issued, the applicant must be able to display proof of the project’s paid invoices.

          Please NOTE, a picture upload is not required to apply. You may apply prior to project completion, and if your application is approved, the funds will simply be held until your project is completed and passes inspection of the Main Street Director (256-371-3711).

              **Please NOTE, if your work is “Preventative Maintenance,” such as repairing a leaking roof or some other type of regular and routine maintenance of equipment and assets in order to keep them running or structural safe, then a COA may not be required. To ensure if your project qualifies as Preventative Maintenance, please contact our Building & Safety Division at: 256-231-7720.
