The Anniston Downtown Farmer’s Market will occur every Saturday, from 7:00 AM until 11:00 AM, starting May 7, 2022 and running through October 29, 2022! Our Farmer’s Market is located in the heart of Downtown Anniston at the new Coldwater Mountain Brewpub at 1208 Walnut Avenue Anniston, AL 36201.

All are invited to the big top tent beside the brewpub to discover farm fresh produce, honey, meats, and dairy products; artisanal food items including baked goods, jams, jellies, preserves, pickled items, and other canned goods; handmade jewelry and crafts; and to learn and sample recipes using locally sourced ingredients from featured local chefs and Calhoun County Extension Office nutritionists.

This Certified Farmers Market is an opportunity for small and medium growers and producers to interact directly with you, their customer! And what better way to put a face with the food you eat than to meet YOUR farmer? Quality vendors and special events including cooking demos, musical guests, featured artists, and more are what help make the Anniston Downtown Market a destination suited for any age.

For additional information, call 256-624-7172 or email marketmanagerafm@yahoo.com. If you are a grower and are interested in selling at the Anniston Downtown Market, permits are available at no charge from the County Extension Office (256-237-6121).

Revised Comprehensive Plan Presentation | 05/05/22

comp plan

On June 28th of 2021, the City of Anniston publicly kicked off its comprehensive planning process. After nearly a year of surveys, public meetings, and all around hard work, we are proud to present the revised draft of our city-wide comprehensive plan to the public for another round of citizen input on May 5, 2022 at 6:00 PM at the Anniston City Meeting Center (1615 Noble Street, Anniston, AL 36201).

City leadership encourages all citizens to attend this meeting in order to provide their feedback, comments, and questions on the plan. To review the plan before the public meeting on 05/05/22 please follow this link: https://bit.ly/3jQMGNW. After this public hearing, there will be two additional public hearings prior to the plan’s final adoption; one with the City of Anniston’s Planning Commission, and then a final public input session with the Anniston City Council.

This Comprehensive Plan will serve as a policy instrument for our government for future decisions on regulations, funding allocations, and the management of our environment. Comprehensive plans establish long-range goals for the community. This plan will guide decisions on recreation, economic development, and more for years to come.

“The core of a city’s comprehensive plan is the community and its citizens. The effort and participation to date from our citizenry has provided the City of Anniston with a collective path towards good policy and future economic growth. We are proud to soon utilize this plan as a guiding mechanism for long-term sustainability and success,” stated the City of Anniston Director of Planning and Economic Development, Toby Bennington.
