Saturday Alive! is back at the Anniston Museum of Natural History. Each month, we’ll discuss a new topic and introduce you to several of our animal ambassadors. There is always something new to learn at the Anniston Museums and Gardens!

Explore Like Lewis and Clark Summer Camp!

We love to help you Explore Your World, and this summer we will be exploring like Lewis and Clark! During this three-day camp, your child will discover the wonders of animals, plants, and Native American cultures as they embark on their very own expedition at the Anniston Museums and Gardens. 

Explore Like Lewis and Clark Summer Camp is for children ages 7-13. Camp is $130 per child and members receive a $15 discount. Lunch is included. Pre-registration is required. Register online at or call 256-237-6766. Last day to register is Friday, June 10.

HerpFest 2022!


It is time once again to celebrate and appreciate our slimy, scaly friends! HerpFest 2022 will be at the Longleaf Event Center with fun for the entire family. Enjoy family-friendly crafts and interactives including reptile and amphibian-themed presentations and live animals. Joining us this year are Alabama Herpetological Society, Jacksonville State University, Cheaha State Park, Cook Museum, and the Anniston Museum of Natural History, just to name a few! During the event, enjoy a delicious lunch or snack from Izzie’s Treats and Kristi’s Classics, or get your caffeine fix at Called Coffee. This event offers guests of all ages the opportunity to learn more about our slimy and scaly friends! 

While you are here, enjoy all that the Anniston Museums and Gardens has to offer! The Anniston Museum of Natural History and the Berman Museum will be joining in on the fun with herp-related scavenger hunts and artifact displays. 

HerpFest is $5 per person. AM&G members receive a $2 discount. Purchase tickets online at or at the door.

Join us this June for a special program featuring Jason Powell from Petals From The Past! 

Petals From The Past is managed by Jason and Shelley Powell, horticulturalists, whose skills complement each other. Jason has a master’s degree in horticulture from Texas A&M University and Shelley has a BS in Horticulture from Texas A&M. Since starting Petals From The Past in 1994, they have applied contemporary techniques in growing the finest old-garden plants along with new varieties.

Courtyard Garden Tour!

Flag Day Program!

Flags have been used throughout the world for the last 3,000 years. From signaling troops in war to representing sovereign countries, flags serve an important place in history. Celebrate Flag Day this year at the Berman Museum as we learn the many purposes of flags, the meaning of colors and symbols, and more. Complete your visit by designing your very own unique flag. 

This program is included in museum admission and free for members. 

Hike and Seek!

Join us as we explore the upper and lower loops of the Eugenia G. Brannon Nature Trail. Along the way, we will learn how to use the Seek app from iNaturalist to identify plants and animals.

Classified: D-Day Mission Briefing

Celebrate the 78th anniversary of D-Day at the Berman Museum with an exciting interactive program led by special guest, SGM Thom Cole, US Army (Ret.). Take part in a classified, top-secret mission briefing for Operation Overlord or Operation Neptune. Step into the role of a sailor, infantry soldier, or paratrooper preparing to parachute in at night or storm the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944. 

This program is great for the whole family! Classified: D-Day Mission Briefing is included in museum admission and free for members. 

Feed Our Friends!

The Anniston Museum of Natural History is home to a variety of animal ambassadors. Join our Education team every Monday this summer to feed and greet several of our residents up close. All proceeds go toward the care and enrichment of our animal ambassadors. 

Feed Our Friends is $2 per feeding. This program is available on a first come, first served basis and will end when animals are full.

Fourth Friday returns for the summer on the following dates:

Join us every fourth Friday of the month June through September from 6pm till 9pm for our monthly street festival. We will have food and artisan vendors, kids activities, various themed shows, the classic car Cruise In, and more.

In June, we are bringing back the popular Freestyle Connection BMX Team for 3 action-packed stunt shows. Also on site, kids can bring their bicycle and test their skills on the Bike Rodeo Course. Learn how to safely maneuver through obstacles that you may encounter on the roads or trails.

In July, Mahealani’s Polynesian Entertainment will return to Anniston for our Summer Luau. Mahealani spent the last several months dancing in Hawaii and we are so excited to welcome her group back to Anniston! Join us as they take our community through various authentic island dances.

The Chopped Competition Returns in August, as a few of our downtown restaurants compete to take the title of Chopped Champion from reigning winner, Effina’s Downtown.

New this year, Main Street Anniston presents, Decades Night for our September Fourth Friday. As with all our Fourth Fridays, we encourage you to dress for the theme. Pick your favorite decade and come downtown for a night of groovy fun. This might be the end of our summer event series as we begin to gear up for our fall and winter activities but, that don’t mean you won’t feel your temperature rising… when Elvis takes the stage!
