The City of Anniston, Division of Building & Safety, is established to ensure the safeguarding of the citizens of Anniston regarding public health, safety and general welfare through aggressive implementation, public education, and enforcement of the codes adopted by the City of Anniston encompassing hazards that may be imposed on the built environment. To facilitate the functions of the Division of Building & Safety, a staff of trained individuals is tasked with this endeavor.
The Division of Building & Safety consists of the following departments:
Building Department; who ensures construction projects meets all acceptable building codes.
Code Enforcement; ensures compliance of the Code of Ordinances adopted by the City of Anniston and to promote the public health, safety, morals and general welfare; to provide the orderly development and growth for the general good and benefit to the people of Anniston.
Fire Marshal; who ensures compliance with all fire codes and life safety issues.
The City of Anniston, Alabama’s Building & Safety Department has officially launched our new online permitting portal through GovWell — giving residents and contractors convenient, around-the-clock access to apply for and manage building permits.
