The Anniston Changers are a group of volunteers who are passionate about Anniston and its citizens! The Changers partner with community members and organizations to complete monthly service projects throughout Anniston. 

Service Project Registration

Each month the Anniston Changers organize a community service project. These projects usually take place on the 3rd Saturday of each month, typically from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM CT. To view our upcoming service opportunities, please see the flyer below:

Home Repair Grant

The Anniston Changers are proud to offer a home repair grant through the City of Anniston Fund established with the Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama (CFNEA), who provides charitable grants and expenditures within the corporate city limits of Anniston, Alabama. To apply, click here

Our Home Repair Grant usually opens for applications two to three times a year. Our next open cycle is: Sept. 16, 2024 to Oct. 21, 2024.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Individuals that meet the following requirements are eligible to apply for assistance. All 3 requirements must be met:

  1. Own a home within the Anniston, AL corporate city limits (refer to city map of corporate city limits, link to map: https://tinyurl.com/yc24rb8a); AND
  2. Are either over 60, or mentally or physically disabled, or low income; AND
  3. Application must be for residential property that you own and occupy as your primary residence.


AREAS OF FUNDING:

Residential property repairs that correct a minor health or safety hazard. Examples of work done in the past include: wheelchair ramps, window replacement, minor roof patching, minor plumbing repairs, minor deck/awning repairs.

 


GRANT APPLICATION INFO:

  • Maximum request $2,500.00
  • If selected, the grantee is responsible for finding their own contractor(s). 
  • Incomplete applications will not be reviewed

About Us

The Anniston Changers have been in action since 2020. To date, the group has organized over 30 service projects, they have moved hundreds of tons of litter out of our community, and they have invested over $50,000 in local home repair efforts.

On November 16, 2022, Alabama People Against A Littered State (ALPALS) selected the Anniston Changers as their 2022 Don Hines Memorial Award recipient at its annual State Governor’s award ceremony at the Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center in Montgomery, Alabama. This award is ALPALS’s highest honor, named after former ALPALS Chairman, Don Hines. The award recognizes outstanding community efforts in litter clean-up, prevention, and education.
